CLIENT COMMENTS FROM HOUSE BOOK

What a great place to use as home-base for our first visit to Provence!! Close to all the good attractions and such a friendly town. Good restaurants too! We enjoyed the pool and our short lounging time. Thanks for the beautiful villa and your hospitality, we shall return.

Thank you for a wonderful week - we have all had a fabulous time. Your book was very informative and gave us a good idea of where to visit every day - in particular we enjoyed lunch at Suzette - a picture postcard setting. Your home is beautiful - clean and has everything needed for a stressless stay. Our girls loved the pool and our 3 year old became an olympic swimmer by the time she left. Thank you again for a truly lovely holiday in a perfect location.

So enjoyed our stay, a beautiful house and views, your house book was well used, had great days tripping around the lovely villages. We will have special memories of our time here and meeting the very friendly local people. Thank you.

In the heart of a bustling Provençal village, this 17th century house has been decorated with great taste. The property grounds include an enclosed swimming pool. Beside the pool is a gravelled courtyard with oleander, lavender, rosemary, young cypress and olive trees and other flowering shrubs - adjacent to the house is a shaded stone terrace with dining table. The terrace faces north, which makes it the ideal location for leisurely outdoor meals. And you’re just steps from the plane-tree shaded main square and cafés, restaurants, bakeries, markets and all services you’ll need to settle into Provençal village life.

The entry hall opens to a lovely living room with two beige sofas grouped around an ottoman-coffee table. A cane bench and chairs complete this appealing room with French door opening to the terrace and pool.

To the left is the dining area with French country table and chairs. Adjacent to the dining area is the galley kitchen. Well designed and fully equipped, it has terracotta tile counters, gray wood cabinets and a door opening to the covered dining terrace. Also on this level are separate toilet facilities.

Stairs from the entry lead to three bedrooms, each with comfortable twin beds and full ensuite bath/shower rooms.

On the second floor are two bedrooms with tiled showers.

A spacious master suite occupies the entire third floor with windows onto the garden and views of Mont Ventoux. The bathroom includes a tiled tub with shower and double sinks. All the bedrooms feature lovely quilts, antique tables, lamps and closets. The bathrooms boast beautiful ceramic tilework with colorful painted tile accents over the sinks.

Caromb is a fortified village situated high in the foothills of the Ventoux mountains and close to the Dentelles de Montmirail, 12km east of Carpentras. Caromb has preserved some very interesting monuments within its ramparts. It is endowed with one of the largest Romanesque churches in the Vaucluse: the church of Saint Maurice, erected in the 14th century.

The fountain on the square which dates from 1749 with its 4 stone mascarons represents the legend of King Midas who was saved from dying of thirst thanks to a mysterious well found in the middle of the desert.

In the Lauron valley about 2 km away, there is a man-made lake that is much appreciated by anglers. In summer one can also swim there. Caromb apricots are very well known. So don’t' miss out on the Tuesday morning market.

The local speciality is pork and white kidney beans au gratin. This dish is a meal in itself..., the locals will tell you in their inimitable accent: "cassoulet is a joke compared to this"... and they're not wrong! A bit of advice: better visit the village first and eat afterwards...

Carpentras - it is famous for it's St. Siffrein Fair - it begins on the 27th of November and coincides with the equally famous black truffle market. Excellent candied fruit, strawberries, melon, bonbons, "berlingots" and of course Cotes de Ventoux wines are all specialities claimed by the city of Carpentras.

Appx 20km N of Isle-sur Sorgue, a beautiful town of mills and waterways, famous for its antique shops (some 350 of them!!)
Appx 20km NW of the Luberon (the spectacular Fontaine de Vaucluse, Gordes)
Appx 30km NE of Avignon (Palais des Papes).
