Remaining July 2018 weeks 2900 Euro.
A spacious stone built Maison de Maitre which dates back to 1870 and has been lovingly and imaginatively restored by its present owners into a wonderful family holiday home. They have kept the original tiled floors and mosaics and have used original arched windows and ironwork balconies reclaimed from a local château.
The holiday villa's rooms are spacious with ochre walls giving a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Many of the walls have been hand painted 'a l'ancienne'. The holiday house has such thick walls that it is quite cool even in the August heat. The 'piece de resistance' are the huge 1st floor ensuite bathrooms which might be mistaken for small living-rooms - comfortable armchairs and original marble fireplaces - very chic.
Situated in the Cathar Region, with lovely rural views over the surrounding Southern France vineyards.
The house is on 3 levels (so may not be suitable for the elderly or the very young as there are quite a few stairs) and has been furnished in traditional French style with lovely antique furniture and some wonderful hand painted murals above the beds. There are 2 family rooms on the 2nd floor which are spacious enough for 4 people.
The owner has carried out an age old tradition of hiding in each bedroom, a small empty bird's nest that has been found whilst harvesting the grapes, as legend has it that this brings good luck!
The owners run an organic 12 hectare wine domaine from a cave next door - so no need to travel far for a wine tasting!
