In mid and low season special rates for smaller groups - renting just the downstairs suites. Please enquire for prices.
The very large stone built typical French Maison du Maitre stands on the bank of the river Orb in Languedoc. The village of Roquebrun is one of the most picturesque villages in France. This is not an understatement. It is situated within the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc in the heart of the Languedoc. The views from the house are simply magical, and with an almost 'private river beach', an indoor heated pool and sauna, there is no better place to relax and get to know the real South of France.
The village is set against the stunning back drop of mountains with the river Orb running close to its edge. The characterful old houses of the village seem to tumble down towards the river, and the whole place is surrounded by vineyards. The 10th century Cathar tower, recently restored, stands like a sentinel above the village. The setting is wonderful and you can literally while away your days on the nearby river beach, visiting the local vineyards, eating in the very good local restaurants (all within a short walking distance), canoeing/kayaking, and walking. This is one of the most perfect locations for a family holiday and for children of all ages.
The house is perfect for two or even three families. It was lovingly restored last year, and has 6 bedrooms (2 with terraces overlooking the river), 6 bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool with optional integral jacuzzi jets and exercise swimming current feature. Two further independent showers and an independent wc in the lower ground floor area next to the pool as well as a sauna and a changing room. There is also air-conditioning in the upstairs sitting room and fans in all the rooms.

Lower Ground Floor and 'spa complex'
There is another stairway leading from the ground floor to the lower ground floor where the 'spa complex' is situated. This is ideal even for rental out of season since so few houses have an indoor heated pool, with an exercise current feature and optional integral jacuzzi jets as well as a sauna.
The old stone staircase with slightly uneven steps has been left as was, to preserve the character of the place. At the bottom there is another 'reception' or a small sitting room with a large glass door opening directly to the outside, and leading on to the river beach. Rattan furniture and bar area with a small fridge for drinks. The 'street' is actually more like a path, since it is a dead end butting into the river beach. No through vehicular traffic is possible.
The wall to wall pool is built into a vaulted cellar, with a pool ladder going directly into the water and there is no pool surround.
There is an independent wc and 2 independent showers off the lower ground reception. If one has been swimming and sunbathing by the river all day, it is actually very convenient to come in and shower with hot water, and may be have a dip in the warm pool! A changing room next to the sauna provides a good space to change, and leave towels etc. In this area one can also leave all the 'river paraphernalia' like towels, and water toys etc., as well as sun loungers which one can carry out on to the river beach.
The bar area with the small fridge in the lower ground reception room - is ideal for keeping a few drinks, so that on can sit on the river beach with an aperitif in hand take in the splendid view and never want to go home.
To get to the lower ground floor and to the spa, one has to go through the 'Concierge quarters' (not used presently).
The lower ground area can also be accessed via the outside (via the street).

There is a gated front terrace which looks out on to the street, with a six seater table, a couple of benches, a built-in BBQ and a stone sink (this is on the roadside). The access to the river is either via a small side-street, which is actually a dead-end and goes directly down to the river and a river beach, (this is not a private thoroughfare) or via the internal house staircase which leads to this same street.
There is table tennis, and some deck chairs in the lower ground floor reception with a bar area and a small fridge.
Clients can take deck chairs down to the river beach (please remember to bring them in at night), because the river beach is a public space, even though it may feel like your own private beach!
