Les Chenes Verts is a very spacious and comfortable South of France holiday villa, set on a hillside with lovely views over the valley and across to the old village of Plascassier. It is just a 20 minute drive from the stylish and famous Cote d'Azur resorts of Cannes and Antibes and only 10 minutes from the lovely medieval villages of Mougins and Valbonne.

The villa has been tastefully renovated throughout with lovely light marble tiled floors. It is accessed via a country lane in a quiet location tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Riviera, but with the benefit of the South of France coast a short drive away.

Inside, the villa instantly gives the feeling of space with the accommodation spread over three floors, making it appealing to families holidaying together in the South of France.  

The extensive grounds are over 3 acres in size and there is a large wooded area with a mixture of pine and oak trees which is a fantastic adventure area for older children to enjoy the great outdoors. There are also areas for the adults to enjoy some quiet time to relax away from the family.

The large infinity swimming pool and pool terrace is fenced with a child proof gate which gives added security.

South of France Holiday Villa near Cannes with 5 air-conditioned bedrooms

The living accommodation is spread over three levels and is apprx 380m2 including the terrace.

Principal Entrance
The main entry door on the ground floor opens to a large entrance hall which in turn leads to:

First Floor - accessed by a spiral staircase

Bedroom 1 - Master
A large air-conditioned bedroom with a king size bed and en-suite bath/shower room. French windows open on to a balcony rail effect and from here there are far reaching views of the valley, old village of Plascassier and beyond. A mirrored sliding door blocks off the bedroom for complete privacy. TV and DVD.

Ground Floor

Living Dining Room
The air-conditioned L-shaped salon/dining room is bright and spacious. The salon is furnished with sofas and armchairs - ample space for relaxation - and a wood burning stove in the inglenook fireplace. There is a large Sony TV connected to SKY (freeview channels only) a DVD, Hi-Fi system with wall mounted speakers and I-pod connection.

Kitchen
The modern kitchen has black granite work surfaces, an induction hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, under-counter freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of cupboard and storage space. It is supplied with 2 kettles, two coffee machines (filter and Nespresso), toaster, blender, a large selection of saucepans and ovenware including many Le Creuset items, crockery, cutlery, glassware and a wide rage of kitchen utensils.

Sliding glass doors lead from the kitchen to the terrace.

There is a large extending table on the terrace with seating for 10 people. Steps lead down from the terrace to the garden.

A cloakroom and store room on this level too.

Air conditioned king size bedroom with a fitted wardrobe. There is an en-suite bathroom with full-sized bath and hand held shower attachment, double sink units, WC and a window overlooking the drive and an additional window offers views of the pool and terrace. French doors lead from this bedroom on to the terrace where there are four recliner chairs and a small coffee table immediately in front of the bedroom.

Air conditioned large room with twin beds (90cm) that can be put together to make a large double bed as required, mirrored wardrobe and french doors opening onto a terrace. The bedroom leads up a step to an en-suite with a full-sized bath with a shower above, shower screen, sink unit, bidet and WC.

From the downstairs hallway there is access to the outside and to two further bedrooms and a family shower room.

With twin beds that can be put together to make a large double bed, a wardrobe, hairdryer and a floor standing fan. Free standing air-conditioning unit.

Each room has adequate wardrobe space and a hairdyer.

NB:

The flight of stairs between the ground floor and the lower floor is quite steep but there are solid hand-rails on either side and there is a wrought iron gate at the top to prevent access by small children. For safety reasons, we recommend that this gate be kept closed when the stairs are not being used. A child safety-gate is also available and, if required, can be fitted at the bottom of the stairs to prevent small children from climbing the stairs from the bottom floor. We therefore do not consider that the villa is suitable for people with mobility problems

An English-speaking guardian lives in a small separate apartment in the basement of the villa.  He is on hand to assist in any matters relating to the villa, to provide information and advice on the area and on services available and to keep the pool in tip-top condition.  He will remain “invisible” unless required by guests.

The holiday villa's large grounds, an area of over 3 acres, are mostly a natural woodland with wild flowers, pines and oak trees. It is an amazing place for children to explore and use their imagination. Red squirrels and a variety of birdlife are frequent visitors. There are many places for relaxing in the sun or the shade and enjoy the peace. 

There are some steps down to the path down through the woodland and a gate with a combination lock where it joins the road.  This will result in a handy short-cut to the local supermarket and restaurant which will be a 12 - 15 minute walk (there is a steepish hill en route).

The large infinity pool, 15m x 7m (at its widest) x 1-2m, is ideal for serious swimmers. There is easy access via "Roman Steps" at one end and is surrounded by a wide paved area. The whole pool area is behind a child proof gate for added security.

Beyond the pool is a paved patio beneath a large 5m x 3.5m pergola, with an all-weather table chairs for up to 10 people. There are also parasols and sun loungers on the paved patio if you want some respite from the South of France sunshine.

Ambient lighting alongside and within the pool is a very attractive feature.

Pool toys - inflatables, foam noodles - are available

A large 4-burner gas barbeque is sited next to the pergola. (Fire blanket and extinguisher provided for added safety)

An all weather table-tennis table is available

Bespoke Boules Piste so you can play the quintessentially French pastime.

The Guardian has a small private garden behind a hedge. This is invisible from the villa and the villa garden.

There is a large car-port, 9m x 4m, next to the house with space for 2 cars.

Local to this South of France Holiday Villa

Cannes and Antibes (both apprx 14 km, 20 minute drive) are major cultural centres with beaches, water skiing, diving and sailing facilities, aqua parks, fabulous shops and markets, museums and many famous restaurants.

Grasse (apprx 8km) is the perfume capital of France and many of its famous perfume houses offer free tours and the option to create your own personal fragrance. The Michelin starred Bastide Saint Antoine restaurant is probably the most famous restaurant in southern France.

Valbonne (less than 10 minute drive) is a delightful small town with a bustling central square, numerous open air cafés, great restaurants and a fabulous weekly market.

The delightful medieval ‘old town’ of Mougins (20 minutes’ drive) is packed with small art galleries and trendy restaurants. Picasso lived here for the last 12 years of his life.

The castellated village of St Paul de Vence, one of the oldest medieval towns on the Riviera, has long been the home of the rich and famous.  The Fondation Maeght museum of modern art is well worth a visit.

The Gorges du Verdon (France’s Grand canyon), the arts and crafts centre of Tourettes sur Loup, and the mountaintop village of Gourdons with its many craft shops are all within a short drive of the villa.

There is a well stocked supermarket, number of boulangeries and restaurants in Plascassier just a five minute drive or 25 minute walk from the villa (12 - 15 minute walk via woodland path)

There is an excellent market in Valbonne every Friday and in Mouans Sartoux every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Restaurants
There are many good restaurants in the area some of which, such as the amazing Auberge St Donat (€16 per head for a 4 course lunch including wine), are within walking distance of the villa. Valbonne has dozens of restaurants ranging from cheap and cheerful to top-end fine dining. A list of favourite restaurants is available at the villa.

Sporting Activities

Golf
The Villa is an excellent base for golfing holidays and there are many golf courses within a 20 minute drive of the villa.  These range from the top-end Royal Mougins Golf Club to pretty 9 hole courses with green fees of less than €40 a round. Fourteen day golf passes providing 3–5 green fees covering a number of excellent courses can be purchased for as little as €225. Full details of the courses within a short drive of the villa and information on the golf pass system can be provided on request. Tennis
There are public tennis courts in Opio less than 15 minutes away.

Trekking and Horse riding
There are many spectacular walks and hiking trails in the region and a number of riding centres around Grasse.  More information is available at the villa.
