Dar Ourika is a contemporary, beautiful and very spacious, fully catered riad set in its own sub-tropical landscaped gardens with generous-sized and very private swimming pool, mature olive, and fruit trees, plenty of relaxing shade and truly magnificent views of the Atlas Mountains.

It is one of 8 villas, forming the exclusive Bar Adrar community built on a large olive grove in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains 28km from Marrakech. Clients have access to a communal tennis court.

Set in 6000m2 of private landscaped grounds, Dar Ourika is an idyllic oasis, providing luxury, peace and serenity and 24 hour security, with the services of a cook and housekeeper. They live in separate staff accommodation attached to the villa and are always available either to prepare meals and provide refreshments or a warm welcome should you decide to venture further than the delightful villa gardens and pool!

The villa has an English-speaking manager and team that will provide a meet-and-greet service at the airport and a full concierge service arranging tours, activities and booking restaurants. Transport and activities are charged separately.

The location is rural and provides space, peace, and beauty whilst giving easy access to both the fabulous attractions of Marrakech and the invigorating and magical Atlas mountains.

Please note that, subject to availability and season, mid-week arrivals and departures can be arranged. Extra beds can be provided so the villa can sleep up to 10 people at a supplementary cost.

The villa is beautifully furnished and decorated throughout and has really spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains.

4 beautifully appointed bedroom Suites with bath or shower room and wc, dressing area and outdoor terrace.

The 4 Suites consist of two doubles and one twin in the main house and a separate bedroom suite in the garden situated close to the house. Each suite has its own terrace, fine linen, towels, bathrobes, bespoke toiletries, I-pod speakers and hairdryers.

There is an independent wc in the front entrance hall.

Two extra beds can be provided (to sleep a maximum of 10 people).

Two extra full size beds can be added to the twin bedroom for a supplementary cost to sleep a maximum of 10 people.

In addition to some elegant and spacious indoor reception rooms, there are numerous outdoor terraces to make the most of the beautiful gardens and this wonderful year round destination There are terraces for sun or shade, for dining with views of the mountains or for seclusion within the garden, for relaxing either alone with a book or with family and friends for drinks and conversation. These include a roof top dining terrace and relaxed seating area, a garden dining terrace, outdoor living room and a covered dining terrace.

The villa is fully catered (breakfast included; lunch and dinner are provided at extra cost) and also managed by a friendly English and French-speaking team who provide a full Concierge Service. They can advise clients on anything, from the best or most interesting local restaurants to arranging a variety of activities including walking trips in the Atlas mountains, a trip to the coast, hot air ballooning or golf. They have fantastic local knowledge and are always on hand to help.

Private chauffeur can be arranged and depending on your requirements and is often less expensive than hiring a car and more informative and relaxing!

Please remember Morocco is predominately a French speaking country and take into account that local staff sometimes do not speak English. Often a guide book is handy to maximize your Moroccan experience.

Fabulous Moroccan private walled garden

The very private 1.5 acre walled garden includes a Boules court. There are over 60 mature olive trees as well as fig, avocado, lemon, lime, orange, apricot, grapefruit and pepper trees. There is also a productive kitchen garden that the villa chef uses.

The 13m x 5m (apprx 1.8m deep) swimming pool is completely private and surrounded by terraces. There are 10 sun loungers and plenty of shade-giving pergolas. The pool can be heated at an extra charge (LPG heating).

NB: There is no pool fencing or alarm.

The Koutoubia mosque, a Marrakech landmark, surrounded by sunstruck rose gardens and distinguished by a 230-foot, pink sandstone tower.

The Place Jemaa el-Fna, the heart of the Medina and the liveliest UNESCO World Heritage Site ever seen.

Incomparably seductive souks Berber carpets and jewellery, an array of spices, fresh and dried fruits.

Golf: within 20-30 minutes’ drive from some of Marrakech's 14 golf courses. Some of the newer golf courses are reputed to be some of the finest in the world.

Tennis

Horseriding can be arranged for your horse to be brought to the villa and you can then ride directly from there through some charming local Berber villages and olive groves, finishing with a specially arranged lunchtime picnic.

Camel riding, Quad biking, Walking or trekking in the Atlas Mountains; seeing this magnificent landscape on foot is one of the best ways to appreciate its scale and beauty. Butterflies, birds, and tortoises will all make an appearance if you are lucky.

Beaches - 3 hours’ drive to Oualidia. This world heritage site is famous for its lagoon, Oyster farms and spectacular bird watching Surfing - a little over 2 hours’ drive to Essaouira where there is both good surfing and fishing.

Sand surfing - the undulating dunes of the Sahara are 3 hours’ drive away and provide a unique and exhilarating surfing experience.

Ski-ing
Ouikeimden (40 minutes from the villa) is North Africa's largest ski resort (at present 20km of runs) and in addition to these runs, you can hire a mule to access terrain not served by lifts. The season is short (mid Jan to mid Feb), but there are plans to prolong it with artificial snow and to make Outikeimden a far more reliable ski resort and to extend it in keeping with Berber design and architecture.
