Back home now (after a long drive through France albeit with a couple of stops ) and I thought I would drop you a line to thank all of you for all the help you gave us in finding somewhere for all eleven of us to stay in such short notice.
Both houses were great and we had a super holiday, especially the grandchildren in the pool! I have been to several regions of France but this was my first visit to Languedoc - what a beautiful part of the country!

We had fantastic holidays. The house was great and ideal for us 2 families, everyone had here found his relaxation, fun, .... The house is fully kitted out with anything you might need for a relaxing holiday. The house is gorgeous both inside and out, the interiors are so homely and welcoming and the garden and view are both spacious and private. The pool/ bar area are an added luxury which make you feel spoilt, but you still feel within the landscape. All the nearby villages are beautiful and lovely places to explore and the beach is only half an hour away. This is a perfect spot for a quiet holiday but with many things to do nearby and the house is such a treat- I can honestly say this is one of my favourite holiday rentals. The first thing to say is we were delighted with our decision to get married here! We wanted a casual wedding with the 'ceremony' outside in the morning and then a BBQ and dancing. It all went perfect apart from the groom (me) commandeering the DJ booth after too much wine from the local vineyard! The venue genuinely is special. It feels totally authentic to the region, rustic and yet has the modern touches you need. The biggest compliment I can give it is we want to go back and so do our families. My uncle offered to pay for my two cousin's weddings so long as it is in this domaine, they just need to find potential husbands first! The owner was brilliant. He was the perfect balance of being there to answer questions but enough in the background for us to feel like the domaine was our home for four days with the people who are closest to us sharing and attempting to drink our over-order on wine! We had our wedding meal outside which was incredible and our speaker setup pumped out music until the very wee hours which was no problem due to the isolation of the domaine in the vineyards. Only the mother of the bride coming out at 4am two days after the wedding telling the groom and best man that maybe it's time to turn the rap music off and get some sleep, which was sound advice. As for South France Villas I wouldn't be writing this if they didn't do a fantastic job. The whole process of booking the domaine they were great for answering all the questions we had and put us at ease with the whole process of getting married in a place we didn't know. I'd thoroughly recommend them. The bottom line is the setting is unique, beautiful and for us was perfect. Genuinely can't think of any negatives and I'm trying my hardest! We had the most incredible day ever and the Domaine was just stunning. Everyone commented on how amazing the place was. It was just like having our own wee village for the 5 days. We stayed at this wonderful villa with our 2 small children in September. What a stunning location and and stunning villa. If you have small children (or even grown up children!) this place is all you need. The beach is literally on your door step and the sea a 10 second walk from the bottom gate. If you did fancy a change from the sand and sea you can enjoy the privacy of your own swimming pool and beautiful veranda perfect for dinner and drinks with the most gorgeous views and sunsets. The villa itself is exceptionally well equipped and laid out and is luxury throughout. The owners have young grandchildren themselves and are very understanding to a young families needs; the house reflects this with inside toys available; children's equipment for outside and the garden; and a safe set up all round with a fenced off pool, sealed back garden with automatic gates and windows that children cant open. The local area is well set up. Agde is nice and has a very good market, there is a huge hypermarche 5 minutes up the road and 15 minutes away a huge holiday bay full of entertainment for adults and children. Montpellier, Narbonne and Beziers are well within driving distance also if you fancy a break from the amazing views and beach (we only went for 1/2 a day to Montpellier as we didn't want to leave the villa!). Finally, the owners couldn't have been kinder.Their English is limited but this does not matter at all and they are very welcoming and attentive. They were there to meet us on arrival, show us around, make sure we knew where everything was and did the same on leaving. A wonderful and very happy stay. Merci! The home was absolutely fabulous. Set right on the beach, it was like having your own private space to relax, lay out, and watch arguably some of the nicest sunsets in Europe. Spacious and comfortable, we could have stayed indefinitely at the villa. It was like being home with all the creature comforts to make it a perfect stay. I literally wouldn't have changed a thing! The Domaine was the perfect location for our dream wedding, the onsite vineyard provided a selection of spectacular wines for our big day, whilst creating a beautiful setting. The bedrooms all benefit from ensuite bathrooms giving our guests privacy and the master bedroom and suite was large enough for the bridal party to all get ready on the day with hair and makeup artists fitting in the room also. The house itself is beautifully decorated and finished to an excellent standard, the exterior layout provided lots of flexibility and allowed the day to flow smoothly. The pictures did not lie, the villa really is right on the beach. The beach was a dozen or so steps down from the patio, with a gate, so you felt very safe. The sea very safe to swim in and lots of fishes to look at and shells to collect. The owners greeted us at the gate and took us on a tour of the villa and the grounds. All the essentials were stocked up along with several bottles of wine and beer, a really lovely thought and much appreciated. It was like they had just left the villa for a few days. All we needed was a quick food shop 5 mins drive up the road and we were all set for the week. Everything worked and if you had any questions the owner replied by text really quickly. The house rules were minimal and all very sensible. We fell into the routine of breakfast up the road at a little patisserie, travel to a local city or village or wine cave, then back at 3ish for a swim in the sea, followed by a play in the lovely villa pool. Most evenings we ate in the villa with the fantastic kitchen with glasses and crockery enough for a party! The sunsets were amazing, even the stormy night was incredible to watch from the patio under cover. The local town is a 15 min stroll up the beach, there are so many restaurants and cocktail bars. The best family holiday memories are made in places like this, we cannot recommend it highly enough - go! Jean B, September 2019
We contacted the Chateau staff before we left for France to book the cleaning service and knew then that we were in for a lovely time. The reception staff were so helpful and no question too much trouble to answer. As it turned out all the staff were great. We arrived before the apartment was ready, but we had a lovely lunch in the open. When the 2 bedroom apartment was ready we were blown away with the standard of the apartment, the amenities and the little extras included. We did eat in the restaurant a few time, but mainly cooked for ourselves in the apartment, we never took the opportunity to BBQ, but it was there to use. In the morning we swam in our own pool and after a hot day out exploring the local countryside and cities, we swam in the main pool, a really great pool. On the last day we wanted to leave after the check-out time, so we vacated the rooms and took packed lunches on the bikes for a trek around the local vines, great fun. We will definitely be back another year, even if it's just the 2 of us, without the daughters, and perhaps stay in one of the Chateau rooms instead. We have spent a lovely holiday in your beautiful villa. The house, the pool and the setting are tranquil, comfortable and spacious. We visited Vias Plage, Pezenas (highly recommended), the marche, the degustation and the local restaurants and bars. We enjoyed Cafe Brigitte, La Guingette and L'Hacienda. I just had to write to say what a great holiday we had in your gorgeous house. Everything was to such a high standard. Nice bathrooms with plenty of towels and pool towels and all the little touches, towelling robes, soap and shower gel, shampoos, etc., made such a difference. We have just returned from a week staying at this lovely villa which, as the other reviews state is very clean, well-equipped and laid out to give plenty of room and personal space to all occupants. There were 5 adults in our party but there was plenty of room for 8 adults plus. The main room was cool and roomy with a large luxury bathroom and ante-room (with a single bed). Two other (connecting) rooms, both with their own en suites and seating areas were in a separate building with air conditioning and a third room, also with air conditioning and an en suite was in a third building resulting in as much privacy as you wish. The sitting room had 3 sofas, the dining room a large table and there was plenty of room in the two kitchen areas with a lovely range cooker (if you plan to do any cooking). The pool area is lovely with different seating/lounging areas in a Moroccan style, a summer kitchen/barbecue and outside shower. The owner stopped by early a couple of mornings (without waking anyone) to clean and check the pool. Getting into the pool itself was a bit of a challenge as the water was a bit on the cool side for us softie Brits but nice once you were in! The owner was extremely kind and helpful and spoiled us with a lovely apple tart, bread, cheese and wine on arrival plus deliveries of delicious pastries during our stay. We didn't stray too far from the villa as we weren't there long but it was well placed for trips to Beziers and further afield to Montpellier and Carcassonne plus the gorges, caves, etc. The surrounding area is a wine-growing region so plenty of vines and pretty countryside. The villa neighbourhood seems to be mostly residential and Maureilhan itself was a pleasant village with a few shops and pizza restaurant.
