The Domaine was the perfect location for our dream wedding, the onsite vineyard provided a selection of spectacular wines for our big day, whilst creating a beautiful setting. The bedrooms all benefit from ensuite bathrooms giving our guests privacy and the master bedroom and suite was large enough for the bridal party to all get ready on the day with hair and makeup artists fitting in the room also. The house itself is beautifully decorated and finished to an excellent standard, the exterior layout provided lots of flexibility and allowed the day to flow smoothly. The pictures did not lie, the villa really is right on the beach. The beach was a dozen or so steps down from the patio, with a gate, so you felt very safe. The sea very safe to swim in and lots of fishes to look at and shells to collect. The owners greeted us at the gate and took us on a tour of the villa and the grounds. All the essentials were stocked up along with several bottles of wine and beer, a really lovely thought and much appreciated. It was like they had just left the villa for a few days. All we needed was a quick food shop 5 mins drive up the road and we were all set for the week. Everything worked and if you had any questions the owner replied by text really quickly. The house rules were minimal and all very sensible. We fell into the routine of breakfast up the road at a little patisserie, travel to a local city or village or wine cave, then back at 3ish for a swim in the sea, followed by a play in the lovely villa pool. Most evenings we ate in the villa with the fantastic kitchen with glasses and crockery enough for a party! The sunsets were amazing, even the stormy night was incredible to watch from the patio under cover. The local town is a 15 min stroll up the beach, there are so many restaurants and cocktail bars. We contacted the Chateau staff before we left for France to book the cleaning service and knew then that we were in for a lovely time. The reception staff were so helpful and no question too much trouble to answer. As it turned out all the staff were great. We arrived before the apartment was ready, but we had a lovely lunch in the open. When the 2 bedroom apartment was ready we were blown away with the standard of the apartment, the amenities and the little extras included. We did eat in the restaurant a few time, but mainly cooked for ourselves in the apartment, we never took the opportunity to BBQ, but it was there to use. In the morning we swam in our own pool and after a hot day out exploring the local countryside and cities, we swam in the main pool, a really great pool. On the last day we wanted to leave after the check-out time, so we vacated the rooms and took packed lunches on the bikes for a trek around the local vines, great fun. We will definitely be back another year, even if it's just the 2 of us, without the daughters, and perhaps stay in one of the Chateau rooms instead. We visited Vias Plage, Pezenas (highly recommended), the marche, the degustation and the local restaurants and bars. We enjoyed Cafe Brigitte, La Guingette and L'Hacienda. I just had to write to say what a great holiday we had in your gorgeous house. Everything was to such a high standard. Nice bathrooms with plenty of towels and pool towels and all the little touches, towelling robes, soap and shower gel, shampoos, etc., made such a difference. We have just returned from a week staying at this lovely villa which, as the other reviews state is very clean, well-equipped and laid out to give plenty of room and personal space to all occupants. There were 5 adults in our party but there was plenty of room for 8 adults plus. The main room was cool and roomy with a large luxury bathroom and ante-room (with a single bed). Two other (connecting) rooms, both with their own en suites and seating areas were in a separate building with air conditioning and a third room, also with air conditioning and an en suite was in a third building resulting in as much privacy as you wish. The sitting room had 3 sofas, the dining room a large table and there was plenty of room in the two kitchen areas with a lovely range cooker (if you plan to do any cooking). The pool area is lovely with different seating/lounging areas in a Moroccan style, a summer kitchen/barbecue and outside shower. The owner stopped by early a couple of mornings (without waking anyone) to clean and check the pool. Getting into the pool itself was a bit of a challenge as the water was a bit on the cool side for us softie Brits but nice once you were in! The owner was extremely kind and helpful and spoiled us with a lovely apple tart, bread, cheese and wine on arrival plus deliveries of delicious pastries during our stay. We didn't stray too far from the villa as we weren't there long but it was well placed for trips to Beziers and further afield to Montpellier and Carcassonne plus the gorges, caves, etc. The surrounding area is a wine-growing region so plenty of vines and pretty countryside. The villa neighbourhood seems to be mostly residential and Maureilhan itself was a pleasant village with a few shops and pizza restaurant. I would like to compliment you on your house, it is indeed beautiful, with many features, that you discover during your stay, it is convenient for the centre of the village and the walk each morning to the boulangerie not only made the perfect start for the day but also provided fresh croissants and baguettes for my family to enjoy when finally they emerged from their slumbers.Upon our arrival it was good to find that all the essentials were already available. The draw of the Chateau was such that we seldom left, with the pool (albeit rather cold) and garden providing ample entertainment for the length of our stay, the sun shone, we topped up our tans and played as you should on the best type of holiday! We loved the features of the garden and its position of affording shade during the length of the day or full sun as required made the temperature tolerable and avoided excess exposure. Villa Marguerite in Cagnes-sur-Mer is absolutely fantastic. The villa is of a very high standard, extremely well equipped, ideal outdoor space for relaxing, dining, sunbathing and swimming and the pool was definitely heated to a lovely warm temperature. The villa is in a lovely safe neighbourhood in a great location in walking distance to bars, restaurants, shops and the train station.
